Christian Counsellors Wollongong

Meet Mel

If you or your child ever feels lost, alone, unheard, directionless or uncomfortably challenged, I’d love to walk beside you for a time, supporting you to navigate your emotional world. I am an accredited Masters counsellor with experience as a Special Education teacher and Autism parent that spans decades. I am a compassionate and empathetic Christian living by the coast in Kiama, connected to my natural environment, and on a lifelong journey of learning and discovery. I am committed to being the safe and empathetic presence that may have felt absent during traumatic and difficult times.

I thrive on creating, growing and encouraging genuine connection. I have extensive experience working with children, young adults, those living with a disability and their caregivers and seek to create safe therapeutic environments tailored for each individual. I utilise a trauma informed, person-centred approach, assisted by horses, nature, animals, video gaming, art, play, narratives, psychosocial groups, somatic activities, Christian yoga and psychoeducation. My therapeutic help relies on the Christian principle that good advice lies deep within the heart and a person with understanding will draw it out (Prov. 20:5)

I am currently available for individuals for in person therapy (Kiama), telehealth and walk and talk in the Illawarra.

I specialise in the following areas;

  • Trauma

  • Autism

  • ADHD

  • Anxiety

  • Complex PTSD

  • Attachment

  • Spirituality

  • Anger

  • Addiction

  • Relationships

  • NDIS (plan self-managed)

  • Psychosocial recovery coaching.
